How long will cut flowers last?
Factors such as temperature and water during transit play critical roles in eventually determining a flower's life and freshness. At Morgan Agro we endeavour to ensure that our flowers get from the farms to our flower shops as quickly as possible. Our transportation of flowers is the envy of most of our competitors.
Between the time a flower is initially cut at the farm and when it reaches the consumer it will be subject to post-harvest treatments designed to maintain its freshness and to extend its vase life. We keep our flowers refrigerated at 0º – 2º C and at relatively high humidity. We never expose our flowers to Ethylene Gas as this can be very detrimental.
At Morgan Agro we have gone to great lengths to build and maintain a transportation system ideally suited for flowers. We truly believe this is one of the keys to our success and allows us to bring fresh flowers to our customers days
How should I store flower bulbs?
Flower bulbs should be stored in a dark dry place and the correct temperature to keep them dormant without causing damage. In most cases, this will be around 50 to 60 °F (10 to 16 °C), though individual bulbs may have specialized temperature needs. A damaged bulb can decay very quickly, spreading any illnesses it may have to neighbouring plants. To avoid this, check your storage container once a week and remove any problem bulbs.
